Message Us on WhatsAppAn overview of Savings and Credit Cooperatives, how they work, and common information
SACCOs were introduced in Malawi in the 1970s by the Catholic Clergy. They are member-owned financial cooperatives affiliated with the Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCCO). Mudi SACCO, established in 1990 and rebranded in 2000, is a key player with over 21,000 members.
Members pool savings to provide low-interest loans and dividends. They promote financial inclusion, especially for salaried and non-salaried individuals. Benefits include affordable credit, financial literacy, and community development.
To join, fill out an application form, provide ID, phone, and address. Pay an entry fee (varies by SACCO). For loans, submit a business plan or purpose, and await committee approval. Contact your local branch or use our chatbot for details.
